The team from SMART Way Forward were asked by Annemount School in North London to organise a two hour athletics event to help raise money for Sport Relief 2014. As always, we were delighted to be asked and happily rose to the challenge.
The event took place on the morning of Saturday 29th March 2014 at Allianz Park sports stadium. The team from SMART Way Forward, together with a little help from Team GB and international athletes Michael Callegari, Daniel Davies and British Cycling Olympic medallist Bryan Steel delivered an ‘Athletics Challenge’ event to remember!
Almost 70 children aged between 4-8 years attended the event, along with parents and teachers. On a beautiful blue sky sunny morning, they all experienced a series of fun games and sports to test their hand eye coordination, jumping and throwing ability, as well as their general speed and agility.
The event also saw the children from Annemount School complete one lap of the athletics track with an international, elite or Olympic athlete. A truly inspirational and memorable moment for any child hoping to achieve their dreams through sport.
“What a fantastic day! Thanks to an incredible effort by everyone involved, the event has raised a staggering £1800.00 for Sport Relief!” said Nadeem Shaikh, Managing Director of SMART Way Forward. “The children were absolutely brilliant and threw themselves into every activity we organised for them. They have had so much fun today and even had their photos taken with an Olympian – what better way to inspire the next generation of sports stars!”
Geraldine Maidment, Head Teacher at Annemount School said “Thank you all for such a great morning at the stadium. It was brilliantly organised by SMART Way Forward – and all the families loved it! Sport is very bonding and a day focussed on sports with such skilled athletes is something we would normally only dream of! It is terrific to have that much fun and support Sports Relief at the same time. Thank you once again on behalf of the whole Annemount community”
