SMART steps for career progression with Annie Page’s Point of Transition

Annie Page's Point's of Transition

The team at SMART Way Forward are very proud to be supporting one of their most experienced consultants, Annie Page, launch an amazing career path programme called ‘The Point of Transition’.

Annie Page’s Point of Transition programme, in association with SMART Way Forward can help professional sportsmen and sportswomen decide their next vital steps, once their sporting careers have come to an end.

In 2009, Sports Illustrated ran an article which reported that ‘by the time they have been retired for two years, 78% of former NFL players have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress because of joblessness or divorce. Within five years of retirement, an estimated 60% of former NBA players are broke!’

Shocking statistics. However, some former sports professionals begin coaching in order to give something back the sport. Others like to utilise their skills, knowledge, experience, discipline and values in other areas, such as commercial business, motivational speaking, television or media.

It may sound very glamorous, but this journey is full of twists and turns, financial risks, anxiety, doubt, which can often lead to a lack of confidence, self esteem, and belief if they do not have clear objectives or a structured pathway to help them on track.

In addition, any sports person making a transition into business has to have a good understanding of their own identity, skills set, knowledge, value and worth. Without this, their journey will be tough, lonely, demoralising and long.

With this in mind, Annie has developed a unique programme based around Chinese mythology which helps sportsmen and sport women identify their own power, strength, knowledge and skills set, so they can successfully focus and generate exciting opportunities at exactly the right time, in the right way!

Training sessions can be either one to one or for teams.

One to one training sessions consist of up to three, two-hour sessions over a period of four weeks.

Team sessions consist of one full day of training, plus another half day session. All within a four week period.

Point of Transition

‘The Point of Transition Programme uses the archetypes of the four main dragons from Chinese mythology. ‘Tien – The Protector’, ‘Shen – The Controller’, ‘Futs – The Guardian’ and ‘Ti – The Flow of Energy’ said Annie Page. ‘This programme is ideal for anybody making the leap from professional sports to commercial business. It helps the person identify their skills, knowledge, experience and gives them a clear pathway on how to transfer these attributes from one sector to another.’

Nadeem Shaikh, Managing Director of SMART Way Forward, said: “The team at SMART Way Forward have worked with Annie on a number of occasions delivering workshops and speaking at conferences. Her knowledge of NLP, body language, identity and self belief is valuable to anyone working in sport or business. We are delighted to be supporting Annie with the Point of Transition programme as it is something very important and often overlooked by so many successful sport people making the jump from professional sport to commercial business.”
