Those of you who have seen the Rocky movies with Sylvester Stallone playing boxer Rocky Balboa will remember the iconic scene in Rocky III when Apollo Creed turns to Rocky and says: “Now, when we fought, you had that eye of the tiger, man; the edge! And now you gotta get it back, and the only way to get it back is to go back to the beginning. You know what I mean?”
Apollo Creed was of course referring to that fire and passion inside of Rocky which not only helped him train harder, but also helped him become more mentally & physically stronger than any of his opponents.
Sometimes, we all need to refocus and go back to the beginning. We need to refresh our skills and remind ourselves of what makes us successful directors, managers, coaches, players and athletes. So at SMART Way Forward, even though we cannot promise you a boxing bout with Rocky Balboa or Apollo Creed, we can help you develop your business and coaching skills so you are another step closer to becoming a champion within your field.
Therefore, it gives us great pleasure to announce our next CPD Business & Coaching Conferences at one of the most prestigious sports stadiums in the UK, Welford Road Stadium, the home of Leicester Tigers RFC on Thursday 7th March 2013.
Following the success of our first event at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre in September 2012, we have literally been inundated with requests to host similar events in the North, South, East and West of England. Therefore we are absolutely delighted to announce this conference.
As you know, SMART Way Forward CPD Business and Coaching Conferences are for inspiring, innovative people wanting to enhance their skills further through learning and continuous professional development. For this reason, our conferences are attended by chief executives, directors, sports development managers, sports coaches and community leaders from County Sports Partnerships (CSPs), sport National Governing Bodies (NGBs), local authorities, sports clubs, leisure trusts, leisure operators, universities and commercial private sector companies looking to make a difference working within the sport leisure, health and fitness industry.
The conference programme for this event has been very carefully planned to ensure there is something for everyone. For delegates attending from the commercial world of business, there are a number of business related workshops which will not only help management teams to engage with the people better, but also help sales teams become more proactive, inspirational and strategic with their customers.
In addition, for sports clubs, officials, team managers, sports coaches, community coaches, performance managers and sports development officers, there will be a variety of workshops focused entirely on the ‘softer skills’ of sports coaching. These workshops will be delivered by established coaches and industry experts who will share their knowledge and experience to help delegates get the best out of their athletes and player, especially when it matters most.
Each workshop will endorse the essential skills already being taught by NGBs through their grassroots development or elite performance pathways. However, it will focus on the softer skills required for coaching, within areas such as effective communication skills, developing mental toughness and installing a winning mentality.
We have an excellent line up of speakers, including an inspirational keynote from British Cycling Olympic medalist Bryan Steel, all of whom are looking forward to sharing their wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise with you.
The SMART Way Forward CPD Business & Coaching Conference 2013 will be a great interactive day, where you will be able to refresh existing skills, learn new ones and network with like-minded, enthusiastic people, sharing their passion for working within the sport, leisure, health and fitness industry. So don’t hesitate, please book your place onto the conference now.
