Knowledge, experience and focus are the foundations of a successful performance.
Enthusiasm, consistent training, drive and determination make it happen.
We’re very proud to introduce the first CPD Sports Coaching Conference, hosted by SMART Way Forward at the prestigious venue of Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, Buckinghamshire.
So why have we decided to host a CPD Coaching Conference? Simply because over the last 18 months our consultants at SMART Way Forward have been working very closely with a number of sports coaches, managers and directors from a variety of sports National Governing Bodies (NGBs), County Sports Partnerships (CSPs), universities, leisure operators, sports clubs, community trusts and councils, delivering workshops which have helped coaches, athletes and players remain 100 per cent focused and engaged before, during and after competition.
These workshops have been very well received and many of the organisations asked us to consider hosting a specific CPD sports seminar focused entirely on the ‘softer skills’ required for coaching, regardless of a person’s age, ability or standard. In an Olympic year, how could we possibly refuse!
We are all under pressure to increase sports participation, reduce obesity and inspire communities – the desire to achieve this has never been greater. Therefore, after much research and consultation with a number of sports coaches, we have designed a CPD programme focusing on the most frequently requested workshops. This programme supports the essential skills already being taught by NGBs through their grassroots development or elite performance pathways – but focuses entirely on the softer skills required for coaching. Areas such as: effective communication, awareness of body language, personal management, constructive feedback and mentoring.
We have already had a tremendous level of support nationwide from sports coaches and organisations working within the sport, leisure, and health and fitness industry, so we are extremely excited about the conference and really looking forward to helping as many sports coaches as we can on the day.
We have an excellent line up of speakers confirmed, including Olympic medallist Bryan Steel, all of whom are looking forward to sharing their wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise with you. As any wise coach will tell you: you never stop learning and developing your coaching skills – so don’t be afraid to share knowledge and try new innovations, methods or techniques.
The SMART Way Forward CPD Coaching Conference 2012 will be a great interactive day, where you will be able to refresh existing skills, learn new ones and network with like-minded, enthusiastic coaches, all sharing the same passion for sport. So don’t hesitate, book your place onto the conference now.
